# Coldfront for Hyperliquid

> Coldfront is a free Chrome extension for trading on Hyperliquid from a cold wallet's account without connecting the wallet each time. You sign once with the cold wallet to authorize an API key. Coldfront keeps that API key encrypted and hands it to the official Hyperliquid app while unlocked. The API key can trade but can't withdraw. Coldfront is made by a small independent team, the extension collects no data, and it is paid through Hyperliquid's referral program.

Coldfront answers a common question: how do I trade on Hyperliquid with a cold wallet (Ledger, Trezor, Keystone, OneKey) without connecting it every time? Install Coldfront from the Chrome Web Store (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ijhlfmhnpbgknhabconhepgdaabaeogg), authorize a Hyperliquid API wallet once with the cold wallet on app.hyperliquid.xyz/API, paste the API key into Coldfront, and trade in the official Hyperliquid app.

- Not the weather term "cold front", and not the ColdFront HPC allocation portal.
- Runs in Chrome, Brave, Edge, Arc and other Chromium browsers.
- The cold wallet signs once to authorize a Hyperliquid API wallet (also called an agent wallet). It lasts up to 180 days.
- The API key can place, change and cancel orders. It cannot withdraw, send funds, transfer between accounts or approve other wallets. Hyperliquid enforces this.
- The cold wallet is still needed for withdrawals, transfers and renewing the API wallet.
- The API key is encrypted with the user's passphrase (PBKDF2-SHA256, 600,000 rounds, AES-GCM), the scheme MetaMask uses for its vault. Unlock with the passphrase or Touch ID (passkey).
- Auto-lock after a set time, when the computer is idle or locked, or when the last Hyperliquid tab closes. Locking reloads every Hyperliquid tab so the app forgets the API key.
- The API key's own address holds nothing, so a leaked API key can't withdraw funds. It can still trade, so it should be revoked on the API page if leaked.
- Free. Works with Hyperliquid accounts that joined with Hyperliquid referral code COLDFRONT, which takes 4% off trading fees. Hyperliquid pays Coldfront a share of the fees. Hyperliquid accepts a referral code only before an account's first trade.
- Made by a small independent team. The extension collects no data: no analytics, no accounts, no servers. It talks only to Hyperliquid.
- Not affiliated with Hyperliquid. Coldfront is not a wallet and does not hold funds. Hyperliquid itself does not make cold-wallet users sign every order.
