Set up a new Hyperliquid account for Coldfront

Add a new account on your cold wallet, open app.hyperliquid.xyz/join/COLDFRONT with it, deposit, authorize an API wallet on the API page, and store the API key in Coldfront. Do all of this before the account's first trade, because Hyperliquid accepts a referral code only then.

Why a new account

Coldfront works only with accounts that joined with code COLDFRONT, and Hyperliquid won't add a code to an account that has traded. A separate trading account is also good practice: it keeps your trading funds apart from the rest of your holdings.

Step 1: Add an account on your cold wallet

Most cold wallets can hold several accounts. Add a new one and use it only for Hyperliquid trading.

Step 2: Join with the code

Open app.hyperliquid.xyz/join/COLDFRONT and connect the new account.

Step 3: Deposit

Deposit USDC; Hyperliquid creates the account on the first deposit.

Step 4: Authorize an API wallet

On the API page: name, Generate, copy the API key, Authorize.

Step 5: Set up Coldfront

Paste the API key, choose a passphrase, unplug the cold wallet, trade.

Moving funds from your old account

Withdraw from the old account to the new account's address, then deposit into Hyperliquid from the new account. Both are on the same device, so each step is a signature on it. Check the address carefully before you send.

Before the first trade

Check Hyperliquid's Referrals page shows "Referred by COLDFRONT". If it doesn't, don't trade yet: open the join link again.
